This map of the Province of New York, as surveyed in 1767 by Bernard Ratzen, was published in D. T. Valentine’s Manual in 1854. This charming map includes a very detailed street plan extending from the Battery to the farms north of Grand Street, where the farm landowners are identified. There is a nicely engraved cartouche with reference key in the upper left corner and compass rose in the lower right corner. The Staten Island Ferry and the “Brookland Ferry” are shown along with private piers. The framing is done to conservation standards with a museum mat and black and gold beaded frame.
