It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Curtis W. Hanson on October 13, 2017. We knew that he had not been well but it was still inconceivable when we were told of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers have been expressed to his wife, Onwarin and to the rest of his family and friends.
In 2007 we first saw Curt’s paintings in a gallery in the Boston suburbs. I called him about gallery representation but he was not interested because he had a benefactor who was purchasing most of his works at that particular time. We thought so highly of his talent, that I called again the following year to reintroduce myself and once again ask about representation. In the spring of 2009, I told Curt that we were coming to meet him. We spent several hours listening to him talk about his life and his paintings. We left that day with ten paintings and have been honored to have his work on display in our gallery since.
Curt loved nature and was a master at capturing the beauty around him, whether it was the area around his Connecticut home and studio or the waterways of Thailand. He was able to convey this beauty with every brush stroke which is why he was so appreciated by our clients. He will be deeply missed by all who knew this gentle soul.
