Not convinced that he could support himself financially as an artist, he went to Loyola University, studying both business and fine art. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Paprocki complemented his formal art studies with extensive travels in Europe, painting, and visiting the great museums.
This love of travel, including scenic locales such as Brittany, Bruges, Paris, New York, and the Irish Coast, has been the inspiration for his paintings. He is known for his landscapes and cityscapes, including his hometown of Chicago. Still, he is also fond of painting vivid gardens, especially English gardens.
In contrast to these lush garden paintings, are his tender portrayals of children playing at the seashore. These paintings are something he works on in his studio because “children don’t stand still for very long.”
In 1997, the White House selected Paprocki to paint the program cover for the Annual Pageant of Peace held at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. The painting was very well received and, it is now part of the White House’s permanent collection.
His paintings have adorned the walls of the U.S. Embassies in Kuwait and Uruguay, as well as many large corporations. In 2013, The University of Notre Dame commissioned the artist to create four monumental murals for their permanent collection. His paintings hang in more than 1000 public, private, and corporate collections in over a dozen countries.
